Important tips about our hiking tours.

When booking a hiking tour with us to Jordan it is important to be aware that you need to be in good physical shape. Some mountain steeps are narrow and steep and require caution. It is also important that you are comfortable with heights and that you have no fear of them.

If you are tired during a hiking trip, you can choose to travel with the escort for the day to the next camp instead of walking further with your guide. When you travel in the desert a team spirit, flexibility and common sense are very important. A healthy sense of humor will also add to a special experience!

Appropriate modest clothes are an expression of your respect for the religious traditions in Jordan. When wanting to take a photo of people, please be thoughtful, and always ask for permission.

European and Arabian cultures are different in many ways. Mutual tolerance, understanding and respect pave a way to each other, and you will then return home from your tour having learned something new. You will get to know life in the desert and meet its inhabitants, really friendly and hospitable people.

In the desert you will be sleeping in simple tents or under the open sky on mattresses (which we will provide) during our hiking tours. But please bring your own sleeping bag!

Our camping equipment and your luggage are transported by an escort vehicle which will meet you during the midday break and in the evenings at the camps. This is so that the rest of the day you can enjoy undisturbed trekking. During the hikes you only carry your day backpacks with you.

When not staying in the desert you will stay at good quality middle class hotels.

During the hiking part of the tour you will be accompanied by English speaking local Bedouin guides.

We hike or ride horses/camels in the morning and afternoons. At noon we take a relaxing break in the shade. Drinking water in a sufficient amount is at your disposal any time.

During hiking or horse riding you receive full board – a good breakfast, picnic lunch, and cooked traditional Jordanian dinner on the campfire. You can also purchase juices, soft drinks and beer (not included in the price). The Jordanian food is very healthy, spicy but not too hot. Dishes are cooked with fresh vegetables, rice, chicken, goat, lamb, yogurt, hummus, olive oil, mixed spices and herbs. You may think that preparing diverse menu’s in the desert is difficult, you will be surprised by the creative and delicious dishes you will be served!
If you are a vegetarian or have food allergies, please make sure to inform us in advance when booking the trip so we can accommodate your preferences.

If you choose to explore the desert on camel, it will be an unforgettable experience. Our guests ride their own camels which carry them gently through the desert. You will be introduced to your “4 hoof vehicle” at the beginning of the trek and you will quickly learn how to operate it. Your backpack will hang comfortably on the saddle, so you can freely enjoy the ride in the desert.

The camels and horses are proud but peaceful and responsive animals who are used to carrying people and interacting with them.
